The act of communicating has never been easier than it is in today's modern day society.

In the olden days, you needed to physically travel to see someone, or if you were rich and could afford it, you could pen your thoughts and send them by fast horse. Now, email zips to my friends in Hong Kong or Australia in the blink of an eye. A phone call to my grandparents in the country and to a visitor downstairs in the mall are an everyday occurance. TV and radio bombard us with the medium-dependant message, and don't even get me started on the World Wide Web.

And yet, there is something to be said for the raw efficiency of face to face communication. How much more meaningful a conversation can you have in person versus over an instant messenger chat?
