In short, who to blame...

The advantage of a web site is, of course, that you get an opportunity to do both.

By now, I am hoping that you have had a chance to browse through my site, or at least some part of it. If that is the case, you may wonder why it is divided the way it is, into five different eras. The truth is that when I set out to make this site there was no rhyme or reason to it, but as I started to put down ideas I found a pattern in them.

In the first era of our lives, our family is everything. Before we are really conscious of anything else, it is our family that sets the course of events in our life. It is for that reason that the First Era deals with my family, and my ancestors. There is also a small amount on me, but mostly the physical details. Self has not developed at this point and is provided only by my blood ties.

In the second era of our lives, we begin to realize how truly wonderful our best posession is. Our mind. We begin to explore its limits. Thoughts seem to come in a never ending stream of words and images. Hence my Second Era portion of this site deals with my thoughts. My creative stories and images. My darkest moments and my shining instants of enlightenment. Okay, perhaps the enlightenment part is open to interpretation.

The third era brings awareness of the rest of the world. We begin to explore those around us. Friends, acquiantences and passing strangers all have an effect on us. Somewhere along the way we come to realize that that working with them, we can achieve things greater than anything we could do by ourselves. Thus, my Third Era is devoted to all those who I've had the pleasure of discovering something great with.

During the fourth era we begin to take these joint ventures to a new level. We realize that not only are there lots of others out there for us to meet, but uncounted numbers of people we never will. We then seek methods to extend our infleuence out so that even those who never meet us will know of us. Some do it through corporate means. Some through fame. Some through great selfless acts. I have yet to decide my own means, but when I do, it will be the Fourth Era.

So what lies in the fifth era? I wish I could tell you. That is as yet, undiscovered by me. Mind you I am young and have a long way yet to go. The Fifth Era is simply the unknown. That vast emptyness that lays out before us. For now, let's call it the future. Maybe I'll see you there.
